The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has opened the nominations process for the largest scholarships available to students and recent alumni form community colleges. Through the initiative, called the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship program, the private foundation will award up to $30,000 annually per recipient to help students and recent alumni from community and two-year institutions pursue four-year degrees at an accredited college or university in the United States and abroad. Last year, the Foundation received over 480 nominations for these awards. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m., Central Time, December 6, 2011.

2011 MLK Student Essay Contest
“SSBF and I were invited to attend the Susana de Moya Foundation’s Fundraising Luncheon on Sunday afternoon by one of SSBF’s students. The Susana de Moya Foundations purpose is to “merit acdemic excellence and inspire Dominican youth” and SSBF’s student had applied for and been awarded a scholarship through this foundation! Pretty impressive for a 6th grader I would say. I don’t think I knew what a scholarship was in 6th grade..
