3D Modeling with TinkerCAD Basics – Middle School

April 19 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Students will learn how to create a CAD design for an item to be built on a 3D printer. We will discuss both the design and printing process, although the lesson will not include printing of the student’s design. Programming of the CAD design is done in TinkerCAD. SDM will provide all equipment needed.

The initial project will be to design a keychain with the student’s name or initials. To create a more detailed drawing appropriate for printing, most students will require more than one TinkerCAD lesson or individual appointment, or they can work at home to finish their design.

After a student finishes their keychain design, we print it at SDM for future pickup. If a student designs a more complex design, please call to discuss whether it can be printed here.

This lesson requires approximately middle school levels of reading and math comprehension.

After this lesson you can make additional appointments to learn more, continue designing, or to put this topic into use.

After online registration closes, please contact SDM for space availability.

This topic can also be taught at any time in individual sessions. Please call for more information.

Cancellation must be at least 48 hours before the lesson begins to avoid further appointment restrictions.
