OUR APPROACH

Technology Education and Support

What we offer

At SDM we help people learn to use their phones, tablets and computers, and troubleshoot issues with their devices and apps. We help clients build their basic computing skills, understand and use email and the cloud, fill out forms online, learn to search effectively, set up devices safely, and build and maintain websites, to name just a few of our topics. We do not do hardware repairs.

We try very hard to teach you how to do something, instead of doing it for you. Our philosophy is that you are responsible for your device, your content and the choices you make about how to use it. We are not job hunting specialists, web developers, graphic designers, or book editors. We will teach you what we know and what we have learned through our experience, but the decisions are all yours.

One-on-One Technology Lessons

We carry out individual appointments where participants can ask questions and receive guidance on their devices.

We help with topics such as:

  • Smartphones and tablets
  • Email and messaging
  • Internet browsing
  • App setup and troubleshooting
  • Device settings and updates

Community Technology Workshops

In addition to individual help, we host workshops, such as our ShopTalks@SDM, that teach important digital skills.

These workshops cover subjects such as:

  • Use everyday apps
  • Manage files and photos
  • Protect personal information online
  • Avoid internet scams and fraud
  • Use online services safely

Youth Technology Lessons & Programs

We offer both individual appointments and vacation programming for kids.
