Apple has changed the look of their Camera app substantially with their newest major update.
In this post we will go over all the iOS 26 Camera app changes to clear up any confusion about the new interface.
Initial Screen
Options along the bottom of the screen
Apple has added a more simplistic type of look for the initial camera screen you see when you first open the app.
The first thing you may notice is the bottom tab where you switch between camera type options now only shows two options; Video and Photo.
This is simply a display change and you have not lost access to all the other camera options. Swipe the tab left and right and you will see them appear.
The photo library and camera reversal are the other two options down on the bottom area on the screen.
Above that our take photo/start recording button has stayed the same, as well as the zoom options.

Options at the top of the screen
The top of the screen has also been simplified.
Here most of the other camera functionality has been condensed into a single button that sits next to the flash and night mode option on the right.
This button displays itself as 6 dots, 3 on the top and 3 on the bottom, as shown in the images above.

Tapping these six dots in photo mode offers us these functions:
- Flash
- Live Photo on/off
- Countdown Timer
- Exposure + or –
- Photographic styles
- Filter options
- Aspect ratio options
- Night mode options

Alternatively, accessing this in video mode, offers us these functions:
- Flash
- Exposure + or –
- Action Mode
These menus also have specific options when in Panoramic mode, Slow-Mo, Portrait, and any other special mode offered.
When in video mode on the top left you will see a video quality section where you can upgrade or downgrade the quality.
These controls are designed to make the app faster, cleaner, modernized, accessible and organized for the everyday user.
These changes were also made as a part of Apples new Liquid Glass design. To find out more and other features of iOS 16 check out *our post* covering it or the official Apple Page about iOS 26.
